A case that is expected to cause an earthquake in the Greek music industry appears to have already begun to unfold behind the closed doors of the courts—and beyond. According to exclusive information that has leaked in the last few hours, a criminal complaint has been filed—preceded by an extrajudicial statement, complaint, and lawsuit—against four key figures in Greek showbiz and the recording industry: the singer Tamta the powerful chief executive officer Margarita Matsa (Minos EMI–Universal) the CEO of Kiki Musik and Tamta’s daughter, Annie Hatsvani; and Tamta’s producer and composer Theofilos Pouzbouris (Teox3).

At the heart of the complaint is the alleged unlawful appropriation of the pioneering artistic persona CRYSTALEX, noted for its striking theatrical and gothic aesthetic. The complainant claims to have secured and publicly unveiled this persona as early as August 2021—across all social‑media channels, on every major music‑streaming platform, and on the international sites Wikipedia and Wikimedia—presenting CRYSTALEX as an avant‑garde creator with a distinctive stage presence. Instantly recognizable by the red and blue eye that is inseparable from the persona, this visual hallmark symbolizes the perpetual inner struggle within human nature between the good (light) and evil (dark) self.

The matter has already entered the legal arena. CRYSTALEX’s legal team says it has thoroughly substantiated the complaint on every front—citing copyright infringement, disclosure of personal data, moral damages, and unfair competition. They allege that Tamta engaged in a clear, provocative, and systematic copying of the key elements of his artistic persona, wholly appropriating it as her own inspired, pioneering, and innovative creation.

The complaint sets out the following points:

  • Recurring use of CRYSTALEX’s signature traits since summer 2023. It allegedly begins with the release of Tamta’s album Identity Crisis—specifically the video for the title track and another clip from the same record—where the red‑eye motif first appears.
  • Public appearances that reinforce the appropriation. At Athens Pride 2024 Tamta performed wearing a single red eye and spoke of her “happy” and “dark” sides. She has since made countless stage appearances, photo shoots, and social‑media posts, plus magazine features and press releases, sometimes with one red eye and, in many cases, with one red and one blue eye. In interviews on Greek and international TV and radio shows, podcasts, and YouTube channels she repeatedly says she “isn’t just one person” and “isn’t only good and cheerful” but also has “dark parts,” echoing the dual‑nature theme CRYSTALEX has promoted since 2021.
  • A trilogy of albums that cements the alleged appropriation.
  1. The Villain —cover art: an avatar of Tamta with a red eye.
  2. The Heroine —cover art: an avatar of Tamta with a blue eye.
  3. The Villain Heroine —cover art: a split avatar showing one red and one blue eye, presented as the culmination of the borrowed persona.

According to the artist’s side, everything appears to have begun in 2021, when Minos EMI Universal allegedly became aware of CRYSTALEX’s work and distinctive persona through multiple email submissions. The complaint asserts that after inviting new artists to send in their material, Minos EMI Universal routinely rejects those creative works—only to pass them on to well‑known celebrity performers so they can exploit them as their own property.

The creator of this unique persona stresses that the red and blue eye are not merely stylistic flourishes but symbols with specific psychological and artistic depth—symbols the respondents allegedly appropriated for effect and commercial gain. As the artist explains, stripped of their original context, the symbols lose their intended meaning: CRYSTALEX used them to promote inner balance and the triumph of the good, heroic self. This intent, he notes, is plainly evident in his accompanying music videos.

“Help” was created with deep sensitivity and love, inspired by the tragic case that once shook all of Greece — the story of the unfortunate and unjustly lost Vaggelis Giakoumakis — as well as all those who have fallen victim to bullying. That is why “Help” came into our lives: to shed light through its lyrics and heartfelt performance on how an innocent soul feels when experiencing bullying.

7 WHITE ROSES — 7 tormented figures, 7 tortured souls beyond the limits of human degradation, beyond the edge of despair and madness.
HOW MUCH LONGER WILL WE REMAIN SILENT?

A video that strikes like a fist against femicide — a plague affecting both Greek and global society.
Do not stay silent! Speak out and help save innocent souls!

CRYSTALEX returns with a haunting new single that speaks directly to the soul.
Through a darkly melodic and emotionally charged song, CRYSTALEX delivers a heart-wrenching confession about addictions, desires, and the inner battles we are all called to fight — those silent forces that slowly corrode our being and all too often lead to self-destruction.

The parties involved have already been summoned by the judicial authorities to provide explanations and submit their statements. According to sources, the case is being handled by a well‑known celebrity lawyer with long‑standing expertise in intellectual‑property law, and the matter is expected to make television headlines in the coming days.

This dispute is far more than a clash of style or inspiration. It strikes at the heart of artistic identity and personality rights, raising questions about authenticity and the exploitation of young creators who are deliberately sidelined—only for their fresh ideas to be repurposed for the financial gain of already prominent artists. As CRYSTALEX notes, the alleged “stolen persona” is not confined to visual elements; it encompasses existential symbols and even a stage philosophy that he publicized as early as 2021.

Adding to the irony is that the record label involved—Kiki Musik, whose CEO is Tamta’s likewise‑accused daughter, Anny Hatzvani—was founded by Tamta and her partner Paris Kasidokostas with the avowed mission of “protecting artists’ intellectual property rights.”

Artistic and legal circles are following the case with keen interest, as it may set legal and ethical precedents for safeguarding artistic expression in Greece—expression that leaves a lasting cultural imprint rather than merely indulging momentary eccentricities and commercial greed through inferior imitations. Many already speak of the “CRYSTALEX case” as one of the most compelling and dynamic clashes in the country’s music scene.

To be continued… both on‑screen and in the courtroom.
